Itinerary
-
This afternoon we will gather for a Welcome and Orientation at North Beach Campground just a short walk to the Monarch Butterfly Preserve. After playing on the nearby white sand beaches, we will gather for a savory feast as the sun sets behind the Bay. Before enjoying an exquisite dessert, we will head down to the Pismo Beach Pier and stroll along downtown’s quaint stores and boutiques.
-
Today we will meet at the Morro Bay State Park Nursery to propagate native flora that is essential for the nesting habitat of the threatened Snowy Plover. After volunteering, we’ll delight in a picnic lunch on the beach. Next, we’ll take a tour of the extraordinary Hearst Castle and enjoy their IMAX presentation on the castle’s history. From there we will head north on Highway One to visit the largest Elephant Seal Rookery in North America. After exploring this world-renowned coastline, we will head back to our basecamp to relax and enjoy a culinary delight and savor a unique wine and chocolate pairing.
After our scrumptious dinner we will drive south on Highway 1 to Partington Cove, a little visited area but very beautiful section of Big Sur. From there we will head further south to photograph beautiful McWay Falls, the only waterfall in Big Sur that spills into the Pacific. Upon our return we will enjoy wine tasting and chocolate pairing around the campfire, a fitting way to conclude the day with laughter and great conversations.
-
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll gather at Morro Bay to kayak across the bay to the rarely visited Morro sand spit. The dunes are beautiful and the beach is spectacular! To conclude the event, we will gather for a Farewell Ceremony to reflect on this extraordinary gathering and say our final farewell.
